Desert Zombie Apocalypse Refuge 25-28mm Scale Table Top Miniature Wargame Scenery
When the zombies began to swarm the cities and towns, Jack decided the best course of action was to retreat to his little isolated refuge in the desert.
Jack had started with a quonset hut for the basic building. Then he added some modifications to help protect against any wandering zed that might find its way to the site.
First, he welded bits of rebar over the windows to block access. The single door was sheathed with addition metal on the inside for added strength.
Cutting a hatch in the hut's ceiling, Jack constructed a simple wooden platform on the top of the building. He added a metal trapdoor that can be secured from inside.
This wood deck provides Jack with an alternative defensive platform for protecting his new home. It offers an elevated firing position if needed. In addition, Jack can use some of the longer leftover pieces of the rebar as simple lances to stab at zombies who may gather at the base of the hut. With a bit of practice, he has found it relatively easy to jab the rebar pole into zeds as they try to force their way into the hut. An added benefit to this low tech defense is it does not generate any loud noise to attract more zombies.
A clean 55-gallon drum has been set into a stand on he deck to act as a water reserve. Piping runs from the drum to the interior of the hut.
The reinforced hut provides Jack with a simple, but sturdy refuge as long as no large zombie horde wanders by.
This scenery piece is designed to be compatible with 25 to 28mm scale game miniatures. The base measures approximately 5 x 5 inches (128 x 128 mm). In addition to a zombie apocalypse setting, the hut can find a home in a range of other modern or near future game scenarios.
